Volunteers are needed to welcome more than 1,600 metro Detroit high school students to the Wayne State campus for Advanced Placement Day (AP Day).

Hosted by the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, Irvin D. Reid Honors College, and the Office of Undergraduate Admissions, the event rewards students who have been enrolled in AP courses, giving them a glimpse into college life through sample lectures covering topics from American government to world history.

The AP program is designed for students worldwide who want to learn and achieve at the highest level. Through AP's college-level courses and exams, students can earn college credit and advanced placement while interacting with teachers from various disciplines and cultures.

The event is scheduled from 10 a.m. to noon on Tuesday, April 26.

Wayne State students, faculty and staff are encouraged to volunteer for tasks such as providing campus tours, escorting groups to campus locations, mingling with attendees and more.
