Wayne State University accepting applications for SAT Boot Camp to help prepare high school students

As Michigan prepares to switch this spring from the ACT to the SAT, CommunityEngagement@Wayne, part of the Irvin D. Reid Honors College at Wayne State University, is accepting applications for its SAT Boot Camp.

SAT Boot Camp replaces the K.A.L.E.S ACT Prep Institute, CommunityEngagement@Wayne’s standardized test prep course. Instead of preparing students for the ACT, this course will prep high school sophomores, juniors and seniors for the SAT.

“This is a great opportunity for high school students to learn about the SAT test and begin prepping for it. Even though the name has changed, the program’s core value is still the same, which is to give each student that comes to SAT Boot Camp the necessary tools to achieve his or her best possible score,” said Monita Mungo, coordinator for CommunityEngagement@Wayne.

SAT Boot Camp will run June 27 through Aug. 4 and will be taught by current students of the Irvin D. Reid Honors College. To qualify for SAT Boot Camp, students must have a grade of “B” or better in algebra and English (or a grade of “C” or better if high school G.P.A. is above a 3.0), and be starting 10th or 11th grade in the fall semester. The cost for SAT Boot Camp is $25, which is due on the first day of class.

Applications can be found at communityengagement.wayne.edu, with applications being accepted through Feb. 29. There are only 40 seats for the prep course. For more information, please contact Monita Mungo at 313-577-8912 or via email at communityengagement@wayne.edu.
