Wayne State now offering SAT Boot Camp for high school students

DETROIT - Community Engagement@Wayne, part of the Irvin D. Reid Honors College at Wayne State University, is pleased to announce its new summer test prep course, SAT Boot Camp.

SAT Boot Camp replaces the KALES ACT Preparatory Institute, Community Engagement@Wayne's standardized test prep course. Instead of preparing high school students for the ACT test, SAT Boot Camp will prepare high school sophomores, juniors and seniors for the SAT test. In January, the Michigan State Board of Education announced it was switching from the ACT to the SAT in spring 2016.

"We are excited to begin this new chapter," said Monita Mungo, coordinator for CommunityEngagement@Wayne. "This is a great opportunity for high school students to learn about the SAT test and begin prepping for it. Even though the name has changed, the program's core value is still the same, which is to give each student who comes to SAT Boot Camp the necessary tools to achieve their best possible score."

SAT Boot Camp will run June 22  to Aug. 1 and will be taught by current students from the Irvin D. Reid Honors College. To qualify for SAT Boot Camp, students starting their sophomore, junior or senior years in the fall will need to have a grade of B or better in algebra and English (or a grade of C or better if high school GPA is above  3.0). There is no cost to attend.
