Media Advisory: Wayne State University, Sister 2 Sister student organization to host "Home of the Brave" film screening April 9

WHAT:

As part of a series of events honoring civil rights martyr and Wayne State University student Viola Gregg Liuzzo, WSU student organization Sister 2 Sister will host a free public screening of the film Home of the Brave

Told through the eyes of Liuzzo's children, the film follows the ongoing struggle of an American family to survive the consequences of their mother's heroism and the mystery behind her killing. 

A question-and-answer session with the Liuzzo family follows the screening. U.S. Rep. Sander Levin also will be in attendance. Donations will be accepted to support the College of Nursing's newly established Viola Liuzzo Scholarship Fund.

Thursday, April 9 
Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Film begins at 7 p.m.

MORE INFO: 
The Home of the Brave screening precedes a ceremony, scheduled at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, April 10, in which Wayne State University will posthumously honor Liuzzo with an honorary doctor of laws degree for her contributions to society. It will be the first honorary degree awarded posthumously in the university's history.
