WDET-FM 101.9 has a lot to celebrate these days. Not only does the station have a new host for Detroit Today and a new website, but it also has new accolades to add to its roster of feats.

WDET won 10 Michigan Association of Broadcasters (MAB) Broadcast Excellence Awards for its work in 2014. The station also received MAB’s Public Radio Station of the Year honor.

"We’re proud to be the recipient of 10 Michigan Association of Broadcasters’ Broadcast Excellence Awards, along with the title of Public Radio Station of the Year. This is the first time WDET has received this honor,” said General Manager Michelle Srbinovich.

“The team rose to the challenge last year, and we are thrilled to bring these awards back home to Detroit. We are grateful to the listeners who inspire us to do our best work every day and to the members, sponsors and other supporters that make it all possible."

The MAB Broadcast Excellence Awards program is Michigan's premier broadcasting competition and awards show. Stations from across the state compete against a standard of excellence in various categories designed to showcase the best materials that Michigan broadcasters have to offer.

Several pieces related to Detroit’s bankruptcy case and future revitalization from the station’s Next Chapter Detroit initiative were among the award-winning entries. WDET’s partners in the Detroit Journalism Cooperative — Detroit Public Television and Michigan Radio — also received awards in the annual contest.
