Have you seen unused equipment, furniture or supplies around your office? Starting Jan. 26, Warrior Exchange is the solution to help those items find a new home and be used elsewhere around campus.

Warrior Exchange is a classified website that allows authorized users from Wayne State schools, colleges and divisions to post or claim unwanted furniture, supplies, equipment and electronics from campus. There is no cost to post or claim items on this website. Think of it as a Craigslist for WSU faculty and staff.

Across the university, desks, chairs, tables, file cabinets, book cases, electronics, printer cartridges, office supplies and many other items go unused. They are considered surplus property. These items can now be posted, viewed and claimed on Warrior Exchange.

Anyone can view items on Warrior Exchange, but an authorized user within your school, college or division must be contacted to post or claim items from the website. Contact your business affairs officer for a list of these designated representatives.

Daryl Pierson, sustainability coordinator in WSU’s Office of Campus Sustainability, said he has received many requests for ways to find surplus items available around campus and to promote reusable items to other areas of the university.

“This website will definitely benefit Wayne State, as it highlights our continuing effort to realize efficiencies that will help enhance our educational environment,” Pierson said. “This is one sustainable way we are assisting in this effort. Importantly, there is a demand and need for this type of system on campus.”

Warrior Exchange enhances campus efficiency by facilitating the redistribution of equipment, property and supplies no longer used or needed within a department. This process will streamline operations, facilitate reuse and save costs for the university, he said.
