"Investing in Detroit" topic at Wayne State University lecture, Nov. 5

WHAT: Lecture titled "Investing in Detroit," featuring Christopher Ilitch, president and CEO of Ilitch Holdings

MORE INFO: Ilitch will share details about the Ilitch organization's vision to build a world-class, mixed-use sports and entertainment district in Detroit. The project will include tens of millions of dollars in public infrastructure improvements such as lighting, sidewalks, green spaces and streets, in addition to at least $200 million in mixed-use development and arena construction. The arena -- the future home of the Detroit Red Wings -- is scheduled to open in the summer of 2017 and will feature neighborhood-friendly and Detroit-fueled design. The project is expected to generate at least $1.8 billion in total economic impact, as well as 8,300 construction and construction-related jobs, and 1,100 permanent jobs.
