The Division of Government and Community Affairs seeks nominations for the 2015 Dr. Arthur L. Johnson Community Leadership Awards.
The awards, named after late civil rights leader and Wayne State administrator Arthur L. Johnson, honor individuals and organizations — nominated by the public — whose contributions positively affect the community.
The winners will be honored during the annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Tribute on Friday, Jan. 16, 2015.
“We want to give the WSU community an opportunity to honor those making a difference in Detroit and beyond,” said Vice President of Government and Community Affairs Patrick O. Lindsey. “We encourage you to nominate the person or organization that inspires you.”
Daphne Ntiri, associate professor in WSU’s Department of Africana Studies, and WSU’s GO-GIRL (Gaining Options-Girls Investigate Real Life) program were the 2014 award recipients.
Nominations are due by Friday, Oct. 17, 2014. Click here to fill out the online nomination form. For additional information, email communityaffairs@wayne.edu or call 313-577-5284.
