Entrepreneurs will be offered a unique opportunity to network with more than 30 organizations providing assistance to Detroit businesses at BizGrid Live!, to be held from 1 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 21, 2014, at Wayne State University.
The BizGrid is an online resource and infographic designed to help local entrepreneurs navigate the many organizations providing business assistance in Detroit. BizGrid Live! offers the city's small businesses a chance to meet and network with these support organizations in one lively afternoon.
Building on the success of the first event in 2013, BizGrid Live! will feature four interactive panels; a "speed dating"-style resource fair; and a keynote address from Jacques Panis, president of the successful Midtown Detroit luxury manufacturer, Shinola. Representatives from organizations providing business planning and strategy, real estate assistance, funding, co-working space, and more will be on hand to offer guidance and insight.
"BizGrid Live! was a huge success last year, and we're excited to welcome more entrepreneurs who want to jump-start their businesses," said Dennis Atkinson, director of corporate engagement at Wayne State University. "Whatever stage your business is in and whatever help you need, you can find it here. We promise an interactive and highly informative afternoon."
Panel topics include:
• Designing and developing your idea
• Growing your neighborhood business
• Building your team
• Designing and making your product
Participating organizations include D:Hive, Detroit Economic Growth Corporation, TechTown, Bizdom, Food Junky, Tech Shop and four Wayne State University programs -- The Front Door, Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses, Blackstone Launchpad and the WSU Law School Small Business Clinic) -- along with many others.
