Wayne State University is pleased to announce the re-launch of the Detroit Orientation Institute (DOI) on Wednesday, Oct. 29.

The Detroit Orientation Institute engages business, community, media, nonprofit, political and student leaders to challenge their assumptions about Detroit and foster connections between participants.

Join the DOI for its first half-day event, Immerse, where participants will explore several neighborhoods with the Detroit Experience Factory to reveal histories and dispel myths about Detroit. The tour will end with lunch and a group dialogue led by Stephen Henderson of the Detroit Free Press and featuring local leaders Maggie DeSantis, president of the Warren/Conner Development Coalition; Laura Hughes, vice president of communications and community at Strategic Staffing Solutions; and Dan Kinkead, director at Detroit Future City.

“Whether you're new to the city, have generations of history here, or are returning home after time away, this experience is sure to lend a valuable perspective,” says Jeri Stroupe, senior project administrator for WSU’s Office of Economic Development.

Visit doi.wayne.edu for more information or to register. Early bird registration ends Oct. 1.
