Many of the nation’s most successful business leaders have ties to Detroit, but it’s been awhile since some of them have been back to the Motor City.

A new multi-year initiative called The Detroit Homecoming seeks to change that. From Sept. 17-19, former Detroiters are being asked to return for a firsthand look at the city’s resurgence. The ultimate goal is to re-engage the “expats” and get them thinking about how they can contribute to the momentum.

Crain’s Detroit Business is leading the initiative, and commitments to attend have been received by tech entrepreneurs, venture capitalists, journalists and billionaires, including Eli Broad and Wayne Law alumnus Steven Ross.

Wayne State is a sponsor of The Detroit Homecoming. President M. Roy Wilson serves on the host committee and has been personally inviting alumni and others to participate. The university will also host a session, with details to be announced later.
