Are mobile phones, obsolete fax machines or other antiquated electronics collecting dust in your office or storage closet?

If so, consider dropping them off during Wayne State's annual E-waste Day collection, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Thursday, April 24, in Parking Lot 11.

"Everyone is invited to dispose of their old and unwanted electronic items, or e-waste, in a responsible manner," said Wally Pociask, associate director of the WSU Office of Environmental Health and Safety and hazardous materials manager. 

Recognized by the National Partnership for Environmental Priorities, Wayne State is making a difference one piece of electronic equipment at a time. The university has collected more than 1.3 million pounds of e-waste since beginning the initiative in 2010.

The WSU Office of Environmental Health and Safety will have trucks on hand to collect the e-waste along with teams of volunteers to assist in removing items from vehicles.

There is no charge to participate. Although items will be thoroughly shredded, organizers encourage you to delete any personal data as a precaution. Additionally, no refrigeration units or major appliances can be accepted.
