Wayne State’s Office of Testing, Evaluation and Research Services recently passed an exam of its own. Following a site visit and review by the National College Testing Association, WSU’s test center has been deemed exemplary — one of the few test centers to earn that distinction.

“We’re very proud,” said Laura Woodward, director of testing and assessment. “We work very hard to maintain high standards and it’s nice to be recognized for that.”

The certification is good for five years, but the center already has plans to upgrade.

Its current location on the sixth floor of the Student Center Building will be renovated this summer, resulting in a quieter space with paint and lighting designed to reduce test anxiety. It will also expand from 25 to 35 testing seats.

The test center — which administers tests such as the GRE and MCAT in addition to placement tests — will be temporarily located in the Academic Administration Building this summer during construction.
