DETROIT - Wayne State University's Center for Peace and Conflict Studies is hosting the 2014 annual Eugene Perrin Health Sciences and Peace Lecture at 1 p.m. on Friday, April 11 at NextEnergy in Midtown Detroit's TechTown. 

This year's guest speaker will be Henry N. Pollack, Professor of Geophysics (emeritus), Earth & Environmental Sciences from University of Michigan. His discussion will focus on the nexus between ice, water and climate, the changes in each that are already underway, and the implications for Earth's future.

The family of the late Dr. Eugene Victor Perrin, peace activist, longtime member of the Center Executive Committee and Professor of Pathology in the WSU School of Medicine, established the Eugene Perrin Endowed Lectureship in Health Science and Peace. In collaboration with the Saperstein Science and Peace Initiative, the Perrin lecture attracts some of the most prominent global figures dealing with aspects of health as related to peace and conflict resolution. 

The event is free and open to the public.
