Technology now provides a seemingly endless stream of data to businesses and consumers at a rate that’s more than doubling every two years.

This trend, referred to as big data, has created a challenge: managing the surge of data in a manner that will benefit users.

To address this challenge, the Big Data & Business Analytics Group at Wayne State University is hosting the Big Data and Business Analytics Symposium: From Analytics to Action on Wednesday, March 26, at McGregor Memorial Conference Center.

The symposium will focus on deploying big data strategies to drive business success, along with managing and analyzing data captured through product development, manufacturing, distribution, marketing, sales and service in a global setting.

“Big data management and analytics require a slew of advanced concepts, tools and technologies, and the required skills are hard to come by,” says engineering professor Satyendra Rana, a founding director of the Big Data & Business Analytics Group.

The symposium is open to business and information technology executives, engineering professionals and others interested in learning how to put analytics into action.
