Transfer students get "concierge" service to ensure success

The new Transfer Student Success Center (TSSC) is the gateway to achievement for students coming to Wayne State from another institution. Established by the Office of Educational Outreach, the center made its debut Feb. 18 during an open house highlighting services and introducing Director Michele Grimm and Associate Director Lawrence Manning.

Providing transfer students with “concierge” service that assists with academic and social orientation, the staff also connects students with academic advisers, major departments, learning communities, student organizations, parking and OneCard help. When transfer students don’t know where to go, they can head to the TSSC.

“This center will ensure a seamless transition for students coming to the university to complete their degrees,” says Ahmad Ezzeddine, associate vice president for educational outreach. “We support transfer students during their entire Wayne State experience, not just the first semester. If they need help, our team is here.”

Grimm says the TSSC is working closely with community college partners and internal units to help students plan ahead and integrate their studies for maximum credit transfer.

The TSSC, 1150 Undergraduate Library, is open Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Contact 313-577-2487 or transfer@wayne.edu for details.
