DETROIT -- Candidates for Detroit City Council Districts 5 and 6 will share their views on how to encourage small business and entrepreneurship at a forum Wednesday, Oct. 30, at Wayne State University Law School.
The forum will be from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. in the Spencer M. Partrich Auditorium at the law school, 471 W. Palmer St.
The event, free of charge and open to the public, will feature candidates Adam Hollier and Mary Sheffield from District 5 and Raquel Castaneda-Lopez and Isaac Robinson from District 6. Districts 5 and 6 cover the university area.
The following opening question will be asked of all candidates: Over the past few years there has been a significant increase in business startup activity in Midtown and downtown Detroit. This activity has occurred despite the city's economic and political issues. We would like to ask each of you: What do you see as the role of entrepreneurship in the future development of the city and to what extent do you see city government shaping that role?
The forum is sponsored by Wayne Law and its Program for Entrepreneurship and Business Law. Light refreshments will be served.
