Wayne State University’s public radio station recently expanded its accolade collection, as HOUR Detroit readers voted WDET-FM 101.9 the city’s best radio station as part of the magazine’s annual Best of Detroit poll.

This is the third consecutive year HOUR readers have chosen WDET as Detroit’s best radio station and the second consecutive year that they voted WDET’s Craig Fahle, of The Craig Fahle Show, the best local talk show host.

"The recognition Craig has received from HOUR's readers shows how much they value his daily, two-hour high-wire act,” said J. Mikel Ellcessor, WDET general manager. “Joan Isabella, The Craig Fahle Show executive producer, and producers Amy Miller, Laura Weber Davis and Martina Guzman are the too-little-seen heart and soul of the show. Their partnership with Craig keeps WDET and the show connected to a wide, diverse audience. Craig is Detroit's best local talk show host because The Craig Fahle Show has Detroit's best local talk show staff."

Detroit Metro Times readers also voted Fahle the best local radio personality and The Craig Fahle Show the best local radio news talk show. The station picked up top honor as best local radio station, and Ann Delisi’s Essential Music received the nod as best local radio music show.

"The partnership between WDET and Wayne State is an example of the ways local institutions and committed individuals can create something that has real value for our region. Over three consecutive years, HOUR Detroit readers have acknowledged the fact that local, independent radio has a special place in our community life. Everyone at WDET, WSU and across the region is working harder than ever to make the most of what we have. It is a great honor to have our work recognized over these years and we're thrilled to have it come in a forum as respected and valued as HOUR Detroit."
