Wayne State University Press’s Made in Michigan Writers Series authors will be embarking on a day-long literary voyage across the state to celebrate its new season of titles and its new partnership with The Meijer Foundation.

The first-ever tour of Michigan-based authors, Made in Michigan Writers Series Bus Tour will make stops in Detroit, Ann Arbor and Lansing/Okemos and will culminate with a party in Grand Rapids.

In 2012, The Meijer Foundation endowed the Made in Michigan series. To celebrate, the bus tour will hit four cities where partnering venues at each stop will host the Made in Michigan authors for unique programming as they mingle, speak, and sign books. Then it’s off to the next stop.

All events are free and open to the public. Featured authors include Chris Dombrowski, Janet Kaufman, Bonnie Jo Campbell, Ron Riekki, Jack Ridl, Andy Mozina, Gloria Whelan, ML Liebler, Michael Delp, Keith Taylor, francine j. harris, and Phillip Sterling.

"Young or old, book lover or aspiring poet, there’s no better way to celebrate lit in the Mitt,” said WSU Press Promotions Manager Sarah Murphy.

The tour kicks off in Midtown at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, May 17, at the Old Miami for the Books and Beer Backyard Celebration. Rub elbows with WSU Press authors while enjoying complimentary BBQ, live music, book signings and more.
