DETROIT – Wayne State magazine, published by the Wayne State University Alumni Association, was recognized with seven awards during April 17 Society of Professional Journalists, Detroit chapter, Excellence in Journalism event.
The magazine won three first-place awards; three second-place awards; and one third-place award.
The awards include:
• First place, best use of photos/graphics
• First place, cover design
• First place, feature design
• Second place, feature design
• Second place, cover design
• Second place, feature reporting
• Third place, feature reporting
The magazine’s staff includes editor Michelle Franzen Martin of Grosse Pointe Woods, who earned a journalism degree from Wayne State; managing editor Sarah Freeman of St. Clair Shores; and art director Margaret Kelly of Grosse Pointe, who earned an art degree from Wayne State.
