Best-selling author Josh Linkner, CEO and managing partner of Detroit Venture Partners, will keynote the Wayne Law Review Symposium "Revisiting the American City: A National Survey of Urban Legal Frameworks” on Friday, Nov. 2, in the Partrich Auditorium at the Wayne State University Law School.
Linkner, a nationally recognized expert on business development and entrepreneurship, will share his ideas on urban policy, business successes and failures, and attracting new industries to the area. Other speakers include: John Gallagher, Detroit Free Press reporter and author of Reimagining Detroit; Daniel P. Gilmartin, executive director of the Michigan Municipal League and author of Economics of Place; Dennis Davin, executive director of Pennsylvania’s Allegheny County Department of Economic Development; Megan Owens of Transportation Riders United; Adam Kutinsky of Detroit’s Kitch Law; Don Borut, executive director of the National League of Cities; and Neha Bhatt, deputy director of Smart Growth America.
Among the topics considered: How the city can survive amid economic crisis, environmental concerns, suburban sprawl and increasing inequity; city planning and local development; what Detroit can learn from Pittsburgh; property issues; and national development plans.
