Wayne State's College of Liberal Arts and Sciences will honor alumni and community leaders at the sixth annual Collegian Awards Oct. 24

Wayne State University's College of Liberal Arts and Sciences will hold its sixth annual Collegian Awards event at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 24, at the A. Paul Schaap Chemistry Building, 5101 Cass, Detroit.

Established by the college in 2007, the Collegian Awards recognize outstanding alumni and community leaders for their individual achievements, contributions to their fields and service to their community.   

This year’s Collegian Award recipients are:

•    Mark Hackel, Macomb County Executive

•    Michael Koziel, co-founder and former president and chief executive officer of Athenix Corporation

•    Sue Marx, Academy Award-winning documentary film producer, writer and director.   

The event begins at 5:30 p.m. with a reception followed by awards presentations at 6:45 p.m., and an afterglow at 7:30 p.m.
