Nearly 2,000 students gear up for Move-In Days at Wayne State University Aug. 25-28

What:

Nearly 2,000 students will descend on the residence halls of Wayne State University this weekend to take part in “Move-In Days,” an annual tradition kicking off the new academic year for freshmen and upperclassmen living on campus.

When:

• Freshmen only: Saturday, Aug.25
• Sophomores, Juniors and Seniors: Sunday, Aug. 26 - Tuesday, Aug. 28
• Students move in between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.

Where:

Move-In Day for all students will take place at the Ghafari and Atchinson Residence Halls, located on the east side of Anthony Wayne Drive between Kirby Street and Warren Avenue, and the Towers Residential Suites, 655 W. Kirby. On Sunday, many sophomores, juniors and seniors will move in to the Helen L. Deroy Apartments, located at 5200 Anthony Wayne Drive.

• Ghafari and Atchison Residence Halls feature double-occupancy rooms fully furnished with private baths, high-speed Internet, study rooms and social lounges on each floor. Gold ‘n’ Greens, an all-you-can-eat restaurant offering vegan, vegetarian, gluten free and kosher menu items, will open this fall in Ghafari Hall. It will be the only eatery of its kind in Detroit, providing a new and eclectic take on dining in an urban environment.
• The Towers Residential Suites is an 11-story high-rise with views as far as the Ambassador Bridge. The majority of rooms are suite style, containing four bedrooms attached to a shared living space. There are also studio rooms. The Towers serves sophomores, juniors, seniors and graduate and professional students. Within the building is a café-style dining hall, a sushi bar, a pharmacy, multiple fitness rooms and other retail businesses.
• The Deroy apartments are located in a 15-story building in the heart of campus. They feature furnished and unfurnished one-and two-bedroom suites with newly renovated kitchens, laundry facilities, cable and wireless internet along with many other modern amenities.
