Wayne State hosts NYC Complexions Summer Dance Intensive

DETROIT (June 18, 2012) – WSU celebrates its second year hosting a summer dance intensive featuring the New York City based dance company Complexions Contemporary Ballet, July 2-14, 2012. Complexions Detroit Summer Intensive is developed with the intention to cultivate the complete dancer by guiding the dancers to achieve their full potential in the exclusive style of Complexions Contemporary Ballet. 115 students from Metro Detroit, around the nation, and even as far as Italy will study with today’s most established artists to learn the unique Complexions technique and perform Complexions repertory.

Artistic directors Dwight Rhoden, earning distinction from the New York Times as “one of the most sought out choreographers of the day,” and Desmond Richardson, hailed by the New York Times as “one of the great modern dancers of his time,” will lead the intensive, along with Complexions company members. Through these instructors’ expert guidance, students learn the Complexions technique and samples of company repertoire, and build versatile skills through improvisation, modern, hip hop and audition classes.

Complexions company members perform with students for a final performance at Detroit’s Music Hall Center for the Performing Arts, 350 Madison Aveune, Detroit, MI 48226, Saturday July 14th, 2012 at 4:00pm. $20 tickets are available for purchase at the Maggie Allesee Department of Theatre and Dance. Tickets will be available for purchase on the performance day, July 14th, at Music Hall.
