On Saturday, May 26, Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure participants and supporters will notice a chain of pink paper doll-like figures along the race's Woodward Ave. route. The 4-foot-tall cardboard cutouts are the work of Wayne State University art therapy student Stephanie Rozner.
Since March, Rozner and a team of volunteers have been painting, cutting and assembling sheets of cardboard, as well as writing inspirational messages that will adorn each of the 125 figures.
"The pink chains of people essentially become metaphors for unity, community, support, remembrance, hope, survival, interpersonal connection; representing how ultimately this is about human life and how breast cancer impacts women, men, families, friends, relationships and communities," Rozner noted in a blog about the project.
