Brighter days have arrived for the old Pizzeria Venti. TechTown's Quark Gallery exhibit A Brighter Day remains open Monday and Wednesday from 3-6 p.m., and Thursday from 2-5 p.m. at 655 Kirby - the pizzeria's former home on campus. The show is a pop-up project - one that puts art in temporary, often unusual venues - and will be on display through April 6.

A Brighter Day, the first of five Quark Gallery pop-up shows planned for 2012, features the work of Georgia-based artist Caroline Pyle. Pyle is a self-taught abstract artist who began painting while recovering from a near-fatal car accident in 2006. More than 50 art enthusiasts attended the opening reception last month, where she spoke with guests about her methodology and inspiration for the works on display.

Quark Gallery connects artists, the community and businesses throughout Detroit by providing a new venue on campus. Sponsored in part by Wayne State's College of Fine, Performing and Communication Arts, the gallery's pop-up exhibits provide opportunities to showcase local and national artwork in unique locations. The events boost Wayne State's community outreach and allow gallery programming to continue during the search for permanent space and organizational partnerships.
