It's time again to ring in the holiday season, Midtown Detroit-style. The 39th Annual Noel Night, during which Detroit's Cultural Center celebrates the arrival of the holidays, is scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 3.

More than 60 Midtown venues, including Wayne State, the Detroit Institute of Arts, the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History and the Detroit Historical Museum, will be open to the public free of charge. Activities include horse-drawn carriage rides, holiday shopping, craft activities for children and performances by more than 120 music, theatre and dance groups.

Wayne State will host a number of Noel Night events. Old Main will be the site of several performances as well as a boutique shopping event featuring handmade goods, a Christmas tree sale and a special Noel Night presentation at the WSU Planetarium. In Community Arts, the university's art department gallery will offer a winter art market featuring limited edition and one-of-a-kind items from current students and alumni of the James Pearson Duffy Department of Art and Art History.

The evening's festivities end with a community sing-along on Woodward Avenue led by the Salvation Army Band-a longstanding Noel Night tradition.
