Emily Wolfe to discuss how the Wayne County Prosecutor's Office handles violence against women Oct. 24

WHAT:
Emily Wolfe, director of recruiting and training with the Wayne County Prosecutor's Office, and her staff will present an overview of the programs and services provided to the victims and survivors of violence against women. The event is hosted by the President's Commission on the Status of Women and Wayne State University's Women's Studies Program.

WHEN:
3-4:30 p.m., Monday, Oct. 24.

Wayne State University's Purdy/Kresge Library Auditorium, 5265 Cass, Detroit.

MORE INFO:
Last July, Wolfe contacted Wayne State University's Women's Studies Program looking for volunteers to catalog 10,000 rape kits that were discovered by the Detroit Police Department. Volunteers worked under the supervision of lawyers from the sexual assault team.

Wolfe and members of her team will discuss how the prosecutor's office deals with the issue of violence against women. The discussion, which is free and open to students, faculty, staff and the community, will also examine career opportunities in women's studies and criminal justice. A question and answer session will follow the presentation.
