Wayne State hosts Corporate Citizenship Symposium: Higher Education and the Future of Democracy

WHAT:
Wayne State University President Allan Gilmour deliver the keynote address as part of "Higher Education and the Future of Democracy," the seventh annual Corporate Citizenship Symposium. The free event is hosted by the Wayne State Center for the Study of Citizenship.

President Gilmour will explore how higher education far exceeds job training, and ultimately has the power to create and encourage informed and ethical citizens.

"The modern university has evolved faster than public perceptions of its role," he said. "Higher education is no longer just training for the world of work. A comprehensive university experience puts life in context, in terms of history, ethics, international understanding and the conduct of responsible relationships."
