The Criminal Justice Alumni Advisory Group at Wayne State University will sponsor a community forum on the Michigan Sex Offender Registry, Saturday, Sept. 24, 2011, from 1 to 3 p.m. at the David Adamany Undergraduate Library Community Room, located at 5155 Gullen Mall, Detroit. The event is free and open to the public.
Featured speakers include:
- Marvin Zalman, a WSU professor of criminal justice who teaches classes on constitutional criminal procedures, and criminal justice policy and politics
- John Harris, retired commander and police officer with the CSX Railroad
- Angie Kiger, a part-time criminal justice instructor at WSU whose background includes government work and investigations
- John O'Neill, an assistant prosecuting attorney for Oakland County and a former member of the Detroit Police Department
- Tacarra Walker, a WSU graduate student studying the management of sex offenders in the community
Mike Fannon, a WSU senior majoring in criminal justice with a pre-law focus, will serve as the forum moderator. He is active in public programming and community outreach, and is an intern in the Office of the President of the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History and a volunteer instructor to the Detroit Urban Debate League.
