Wayne State University graduates of the master of science in health system pharmacy administration are being honored at an All Pharmacy Reunion on Sept. 24, 2011. The reunion will begin at 6 p.m. in the Grand Ballroom of Greektown's Atheneum Hotel in Detroit.
"It has been a few years since the graduates of the M.S. in hospital pharmacy administration program have come together to celebrate with friends and colleagues, including graduates of all pharmacy programs of the university," said Richard L. Slaughter, associate dean for pharmacy in Wayne State's Eugene Applebaum College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences.
"The M.S. in health system pharmacy administration program was developed in the 1970s to meet area hospitals' need for pharmacists educated specifically in management and hospital pharmacy," he explained. When the last class graduated in 2003, the M.S. curriculum melded into today's Doctor of Pharmacy program.
"Almost 150 pharmacists completed the program and are scattered across the United States and Canada. These colleagues have a positive impact on health system pharmacy, its administration and academic curricula. We want to celebrate them," Slaughter said.
The event is $100 per person or $150 per couple. Reservations are needed by Sept. 1, 2011 and may be made online at http://specialevents.wayne.edu/pharmacy-reunion or mailed. Checks should be payable to Wayne State University-Pharmacy Reunion and addressed to WSU Special Events and Services, P.O. Box 02959, Detroit, MI 48202.
