DETROIT
- The Michigan Area Health Education Center (MI-AHEC), a program of Wayne State University, has appointed Linda Tarjeft as associate director. In this new position, Tarjeft will work with a statewide advisory board and program staff, as well as host institutions throughout the state, to develop five regional centers for MI-AHEC. Established with a federal grant in 2010, MI-AHEC will recruit, train and retain a diverse health care work force to enhance health services in areas of Michigan that lack a sufficient number of health care professionals.

Prior to joining MI-AHEC, Tarjeft was an operations specialist at the Detroit Medical Center, where she developed and implemented environmental and quality standards to earn the eight-hospital system accreditation from the prestigious International Organization for Standardization. Tarjeft was also executive director of Camp Fire USA for Southeast Michigan, expanding youth programs in 10 counties.

Tarjeft earned undergraduate and graduate degrees in business administration from Central Michigan University. She is a resident of Gibraltar, Mich.
