The ceremonies, which conclude the university's 143rd academic year, will be held at Wayne State's Matthaei Physical Education Center to accommodate the university's various schools and colleges.

MORE INFO: Receiving honorary doctoral degrees will be Detroit developer Mandell "Bill" Berman; U.S. District Judge Avern Cohn; entrepreneur Mort Harris; Detroit Poet Laureate Naomi Long Madgett; and Michigan paving magnate-turned-education advocate Robert Thompson.
Madgett and Thompson will receive their honorary degrees at 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. on May 5, respectively. Berman and Harris will be honored at the 10 a.m. ceremony on May 6. Cohn will receive his honorary degree at a separate Wayne Law ceremony held on May 16.
