The Developmental Disabilities Institute (DDI) welcomes professor, researcher and author Jeffrey J. Martin, Ph.D., to Wayne State University's Welcome Center Auditorium on Tuesday, April 26, from 3-4:30 p.m. This event is free and open to the public.
Martin will discuss his recent book chapter, "Exercise Psychology for Individuals with Disabilities," in Oxford University Press's Exercise Psychology. The chapter focuses on personal assistant levels, as well as predictors, barriers and benefits related to using a personal assistant for individuals with disabilities.
Martin is a professor of kinesiology, health and sport studies at Wayne State University. His research focuses on the psychosocial aspects of disability sport and physical activity. He has secured more than $8 million in federal and foundation funding and has published more than 95 research articles and book chapters. Last fall, Martin was inducted as a fellow into the National Academy of Kinesiology. He is the editor of Sport, Exercise, and Performance Psychology.
