WHAT:
The Wayne State University College of Liberal Arts and Sciences and Labor@Wayne will host the second annual Labor Leaders on Labor Forum, featuring AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka.
Marick Masters, director of Labor@Wayne, organized the forum and conference through the Douglas Fraser Center for Workplace Issues. Several prominent academics in the field will address what unions can do to increase their appeal to employees and thereby expand their memberships. Following their presentations, union leaders, including Trumka, will participate in a moderated roundtable discussion on the future of unions. This question is especially important in light of the challenges facing unions across the country, including those in Wisconsin, Ohio, Indiana and Michigan.
