The Detroit Medical Orchestra will present a free performance on Sunday, Jan. 16, at the Wayne State University Community Arts Auditorium.
A group of Wayne State University School of Medicine student and faculty musicians organized the orchestra and gave a debut performance last year. About one-third of the members are students attending the School of Medicine. The remaining musicians are faculty and physicians and nursing staff from surrounding hospitals.
They will play Franz Schubert's Symphony No. 9 in C Major, "The Great," at the 3 p.m. performance.
There is no admission charge to attend, and a reception will follow the performance.
The WSU Community Arts Auditorium is located at 450 Reuther Mall.
