Wayne State University winter commencement ceremonies first for President Allan Gilmour

More than 1,200 students are expected to participate in four commencement ceremonies on Saturday, Dec. 11, and Sunday, Dec. 12, at Wayne State University. The ceremonies will be the first for Wayne State University President Allan Gilmour, who will deliver the commencement address.

The ceremonies will be held at Wayne State's Matthaei Athletics Complex to accommodate participants and spectators. (See below for a schedule of which schools and colleges will be represented at each event.)

Four student speakers have been chosen by Wayne State faculty and staff for exemplary work during their studies. Each will share a personal message about their lives and what Wayne State has meant to them. School of Library and Information Science student Katherine Bryant of Hamtramck; College of Liberal Arts and Sciences student Joel Benge of Sterling Heights; College of Fine, Performing and Communication Arts student Eli Van Den Brouck Wilson of Harper Woods; and School of Business Administration student Yan Isayev of Farmington Hills will speak at their respective ceremonies.
