Children of Wayne State University School of Medicine alumni, donors, faculty and staff ages six to 12 will have an opportunity to discover whether they have an interest in medicine on Saturday, April 17, 2010 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Scott Hall, 540 E. Canfield, during the school\'s annual Future Docs event.
Sponsored by the School of Medicine\'s Office of Alumni Affairs, the event uses hands-on workshops to show children that science and medicine can be fun, and hopefully pique their interest in a health-care career.
Children can explore up to 13 hands-on stations, each focused on a different medical specialty. For example, students will be able to see ultrasounds of their hearts, view a pregnant woman under ultrasound, learn how to use a wheelchair, meet a leader dog for the blind and tour a Detroit Emergency Medical Services ambulance.
For more information about this event, please contact Lisa Link at (313) 577-1380 or llink@med.wayne.edu.
