The Michigan Association for Adult and Continuing Education (MAACE) invites professionals working with adult learners to MAACE's 55th annual conference on March 19 at the Lexington Lansing Hotel, 925 South Creyts Road, in Lansing, Mich.

This year's conference, sponsored in part by Wayne State's interdisciplinary studies program, will feature presentations and speakers from all aspects of adult and continuing education.

The theme of the one-day conference, "A New Hope: Lighting the Way for Adult Learners," highlights the future for those who work with adults, addressing the challenges and opportunities of teaching and learning. Individuals representing diverse educational sectors and programs in school districts, community colleges, intermediate school districts, public and private colleges and universities, correctional facilities, literacy organizations and business and industry typically attend MAACE conferences.

The conference keynote opener Dianne Duthie, director, Lifelong Learning, Michigan Department of Energy, Labor and Economic Growth, will speak at 9 a.m.  She will present a "State of the State" update on the status of Adult Education in Michigan and its relationship to economic growth. The luncheon Keynote Speaker, Daniel Granholm Mulhern, First Gentleman of Michigan, will present "Leading for Change Through Education".
