Jennifer Greening, a local author, educator and parent of a child with disabilities, will give a free public lecture at 7 p.m. Dec. 3, in the Purdy-Kresge Library at Wayne State University. The event is part of the Developmental Disabilities Institute's Author Series.

Greening will share her experiences as a parent while her daughter was enrolled in the general education system. Greening also will discuss her new book Opening Doors, Opening Lives: Creating Awareness of Advocacy, Inclusion, and Education for Our Children with Special Needs.
