The WSU CI founded CLAM as a much-needed professional organization for local K-16 teachers, administrators and advocates of Chinese language and culture. This year's sessions will include discussions about Chinese history, pop culture and business culture in addition to sessions focusing on teaching Chinese and administering Chinese language programs.

Last year, more than 100 participants--including teachers, professors, students, and administrators of Chinese-- joined the first-ever conference.

The Confucius Institute at Wayne State University promotes Chinese language and culture and offers a multitude of programs to the southeastern Michigan community including study abroad programs, K-12 outreach programs, a summer program for high school students, and an annual Michigan China Quiz Bowl for middle and high school students.

For details about the CLAM conference or other programs, check the WSU-C Web site clas.wayne.edu/ci, or contact CI director John Brender at brenderj@wayne.edu, 313-577-3035.
