The Mort Harris Recreation and Fitness Center at Wayne State University is offering summer and fitness camps for youth ages 4 to 15.

The Kids Summer Camp kicks off June 15 and runs until Aug. 18. Programs are set up to accommodate children ages 4 to 6 and 7 to 10. Weekly sessions run from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; extended care is available from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. for an additional fee. Each student will receive a camp T-shirt, daily lunch and two snacks, structured lesson plan, fitness activities, educational activities, two field trips per week and many more additional benefits.

The Youth Fitness Camp is designed for youngsters ages 11-15 years old and consists of two sessions: Session 1 runs from June 15 to July 10 and session 2 from July 13 to Aug. 7. Campers will meet every Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Benefits of this program include nutritional education, fitness education, wall climbing, designed meal plans and much more.

Additional features of these programs include supervised care at a state of the art facility with fitness instructors who have organized programs to help solve obesity problems. Children will be motivated to excel in both physical and mental challenges, as well as improving their fitness and eating habits.
