• Rosie Bakʼs Inspiration Expiration explores the idea of opposites and the subjectivity of experience. Bakʼs choreography illustrates the connection between powerful emotional states and simple chemistry. When pushed to the edge, opposites overlap and eventually become the same.
• Give or Take, choreographed by Martha Dobbs is a highly energetic work, which focuses on the playful resistance and dependence between the dancers in the work.
• Jazman Flaggʼs September 23 (Journal entry #1) portrays a day in the life of a young women who is revived and introduced to a new world of outsiders. Friendship, identity and love are tested through the lives of these individuals.
• Amy Guilmetteʼs highly collaborative work is the culmination of an exploration of shared conceptualizations of space, time, and energy through dance, music, and sculpture. Finding a common ground yet retaining individual artistic freedom within each discipline, As It Comes To Us is the artistsʼ expression of this unique experience. (Composer: Matthew Deneka, Sculptor: Ana Mirzoyan)
• Rachael Harbert investigated several definitions of the word Crash, resulting in a dance work evolving from undulating, weighted movement to an implied pandemonium. Harbertʼs other piece on the concert, The Struggle For Salvation, includes video projections to heighten the emotional draw of the duet.
• In Colleen Laulessʼs piece, The Leader of Hope, a representation of the communication theory, the coming of the messiah, is presented in a story-format through movement. Lauless used inspiration from historical speeches of great leaders of the past century to develop her movement vocabulary.
• In the piece Relations Nicholle Noble explores the inherent connections that exist in sibling and true-friend relationships. Throughout the piece the dancers come to realize that there are no guarantees in people and just how important support, trust, and family truly are. Nobleʼs real life brother and sister perform in the work.
• In life weʼre provided with endless possibilities. Something More, choreographed by Melissa Phillips, delves into those possibilities in life that we choose not to explore. Instead of going through life on autopilot, venture out and find something more.
