"Marketing Yourself, Headshots and Resumes, Knowing Your Type and Dressing to Get the Part" March 28; "Improv! Auditioning, Character and Scene Development for Film" April 4; and "Voice Acting" April 25

Detroit - Wayne State University's College of Fine, Performing and Communication Arts collaborated with the Screen Actors Guild to present a series of master classes by SAG professionals for students in southeast Michigan seeking employment in the film and television industry. This series of classes follows the partnership's inaugural workshop in September 2008 titled "An Actor's Survival Guide to Working in Film and TV."

"The recent passage of tax incentives by the Michigan Legislature created an unprecedented opportunity for Wayne State students to gain practical experience in the TV and film industry here in Michigan," SAG President Marcia Fishman said at the September workshop. "Understanding the protocol of the industry can mean the difference between being hired or not."

As Michigan's only urban university, Wayne State is uniquely positioned to maximize opportunities with SAG for the people in Michigan's population center to find jobs in film and television. "Wayne State is committed to workforce development for our students in this region," said CFPCA Associate Dean, Steve Peters. "Our CFPCA departments train generations of southeast Michigan actors, dancers, musicians, designers and mass electronic media professionals. This series of Master Classes extends the opportunity for training to the wider population as well, as we aspire to keep talent in Michigan and drive the state and local economy."
