Wayne State University sponsors adult, community and continuing education conference March 19-20

The Michigan Association for Adult and Continuing Education (MAACE) invites professionals working with adult learners to its 33rd annual conference March 19 -20, at the James B. Henry Center, Lansing, Mich.

This year's conference, sponsored in part by Wayne State's interdisciplinary studies program, will feature presentations and speakers from all aspects of adult and continuing education.

The purpose of the two-day event, titled "Partnering for Progress: Meeting New Demands and Moving Forward," is to bring together those who work with adults and address the challenges and opportunities of educating them. Individuals representing diverse educational sectors and programs in school districts, community colleges, intermediate school districts, public and private colleges and universities, correctional facilities, literacy organizations and business and industry typically attend MAACE conferences.

The conference keynote opener Dianne Duthie, director, Lifelong Learning, Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Growth, will speak at 7 p.m. Thursday, March 19. She will present a "State of the State" update on the status of adult education in Michigan and its relationship to economic growth. Andy Levin, deputy director, Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Growth, will be the kick-off speaker at 9 a.m. Friday, March 20. He will speak on "Partnerships in Adult Education." Rev.
