DETROIT (Feb. 20, 2009) - Wayne State University Law School is pleased to announce a lecture by Vanderbilt University Professor of Law Christopher Slobogin at 12:15 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 26, 2009. The lecture will be held in Room 1525 of the Law School and is titled "Surveillance and the Constitution."

"We are honored to welcome Christopher Slobogin to the Law School," said Wayne Law Walter S. Gibbs Professor of Constitutional Law Steven Winter. "He is well known in the legal community and beyond for his expertise and will, no doubt, provide a great deal of insight to Wayne Law students, faculty, alumni and the community."

Slobogin is an expert in criminal procedure, mental health law and evidence law. He has authored and co-authored more than 70 articles, books and chapters. His most recent book, "Privacy at Risk: The New Government Surveillance and the Fourth Amendment," was released by the University of Chicago Press in 2007.

Prior to joining Vanderbilt, Slobogin served as a reporter for the American Bar Association's (ABA) Task Force on Law Enforcement and Technology and its Task Force on the Insanity Defense, as well as served as chair of the Florida Assessment Team for the ABA's Death Penalty Moratorium Implementation Project. He has also assisted in draft standards dealing with mental disability and the death penalty that have since been adopted by the ABA, the American Psychiatric Association and the American Psychological Association.
