With half of the season already complete, the Hilberry and Bonstelle Theatres are pleased to announce the creation of The American Classics Package. The American Classics Package allows patrons to see one performance each of All My Sons and One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest at the Hilberry Theatre, as well as Ragtime, the Musical at the Bonstelle Theatre, for a total of $58. This is a $22 discount off of the purchase of individual tickets. The dates of all three shows must be selected at the time of purchase and must be these three different shows. This deal is valid from January 14 until March 14 by calling the Wayne State Theatre Box Office at (313) 577-2972 or (313) 577-2960.

The American Classics Package gives the ultimate in flexibility while still maintaining the benefits of a full-season subscription. It allows patrons to plan attendance at their own convenience. Best of all, this mid-season package offers three classic shows for the regular price of two Hilberry Theatre shows.

The Hilberry Theatre brings a beloved classic to its stage with All My Sons by Arthur Miller. What is more important: Doing the "honorable" thing or providing for your family? This was the scenario Joe Keller faced early in life. With recent events forcing him to deal with his past, he must come to terms with the decisions he made and take responsibility for the effects they continue to have on him, his family, and his nation. The play runs in rotating repertory February 20, 2009 - May 16, 2009.

The Hilberry Theatre Company closes its season with one of the most requested shows from its patrons, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest by Dale Wasserman. The protagonist, McMurphy, trades a jail cell for a straightjacket in this popular drama made famous by the movie of the same name. Avoiding jail time, Randle Patrick McMurphy declares himself insane, in hopes of finding more comfortable quarters in an insane asylum. His plan goes awry when he finds himself under the iron fist of a domineering nurse. This award-winning play reveals humanity's beauty in the most unusual of circumstances. One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest will play in rotating repertory April 3, 2009 - May 8, 2009.

With book by Terrence McNally, music by Stephen Flaherty, and lyrics by Lynn Ahrens, Ragtime illustrates the changing culture of America. Interwoven with major historic events of the time, three families of different ethnicities tell their stories: an African-American musician trying to find justice, a homemaker who takes in an illegitimate child, and a Jewish immigrant who tries to give a new life to his daughter. The struggle for stability in changing times during the Ragtime era makes this a musical experience for all ages.

Tickets may be purchased in advance at the Hilberry Theatre box office, located at 4743 Cass Ave. on the corner of Cass and Hancock in Detroit. The box office is open Tuesday - Friday from 2 p.m. - 6 p.m. To purchase the American Classics Package or for more information on the 2008 - 2009 seasons of the Hilberry Theatre or Bonstelle Theatre, call the Wayne State University box office at (313) 577-2972.
