DETROIT (Jan. 9, 2009) - Wayne State University Law School is pleased to announce a Presidential Inauguration Program from 11:45 a.m. - 3 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2008, in the Law School's Spencer M. Partrich Auditorium.

The program will kick off with live coverage of the Presidential Swearing-In and Inaugural Address and will feature a symposium titled "Legal Perspectives on the Obama Administration." The symposium will be divided into two panel sessions and will highlight a broad range of legal issues facing the new administration as seen by Wayne Law faculty experts.

"This is the first change of presidential administrations in eight years, and it is likely to raise a host of important legal issues, from the future of tax policy and health care reform to Supreme Court appointments and the fate of the Guantanamo prisoners," said Wayne Law Professor and event organizer Christopher J. Peters. "Members of the Wayne Law faculty have expertise in each of these areas, and this program allows us to share our perspectives with students, the public and other members of the Wayne State University community."
