Becoming a Global Citizen: Numerous events held on campus from "The Value of International Education" discussion, to "International Jeopardy," "Building Bridges: Cultural Diversity," to the "Global Fashion Show," "WSU Olympics" and more.
Wayne State University's Office of International Students and Scholars will be hosting more than 30 events during International Education Week, Nov. 17-21, 2008 at various locations around campus. The events and sessions are free and open to the public. This joint initiative of the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Department of Education is part of WSU's efforts to promote programs that prepare Americans for a global environment and attract future leaders from abroad to study, learn and exchange experiences in the United States.
"Throughout the week, there will be many cultural events taking place at several locations on the Wayne State campus," said Linda Seatts, director of Office of International Students and Scholars (OISS). "We are pleased to kick off the event with Victor Helb, executive director of the Liberian Literacy Foundation who will enlighten us on the Liberian Literacy Project book drive."
Other sessions include: "Study Abroad, Know your Options, Middle East Partnership Initiative, and Japanese Tea Ceremony. Some additional events are: "International Jeopardy," a "Global Fashion Show," and the "WSU Olympics" featuring basketball, table tennis, and soccer.
International Education Week is a celebration of diversity and multiculturalism designed to educate, enlighten and entertain.
