The Institute for Information Technology and Culture (IITC) at Wayne State University is hosting a free four part speaker series.

DETROIT, MI Sept. 22, 2008--The Institute for Information Technology and Culture (IITC) at WSU is hosting a speaker series consisting of four presenters speaking on innovations that result from applying social science research outside of academia. The presenters will present on various applications ranging from design and marketing to communications and warfare. The series is free and open to the public.

The series will begin on Friday Sept. 26 at 3 p.m. in the Lecture Hall of the Detroit Institute of Arts. Guest speaker, Rita Denny, Ph.D., anthropologist of consumer culture, will lead off the speaker series titled, "This is Dangerous Territory: Social Research Out of Bounds." Refreshments will follow in the Romanesque Hall.

Denny is a founding partner of Practica Group. She has worked with the DIA on restructuring their advertising campaign and will reflect upon the concept of consumer research as she shares personal experiences of her work with the DIA.
